Temple of Literature

The Temple of Literature was built in 1070 as the symbol of Confucius spirit and education in Vietnam. It is said that the Temple of Literature played the role as the first university in Vietnam. Over a thousand years, parts were destroyed and parts were added later but the principle elements rest unchanged. The Temple of Literature

One of the main features of Temple of Literature is the Khue Van Cac (Pavilion of Constellation of Literature, see the picture below) which was built in 1805, under the Nguyen, the last dynasty. The second story of the pavilion with 4 round windows with rays like the sun symbolizes the shining and brilliant constellation of literature, as in ancient oriental considerations.
